Term Explanation
WL WL nutrient ‘broth’ is used to cultivate organisms found in brewing and industrial fermentation. The ‘medium’ is solidified with 2% agar. The ‘differential medium’ contains cycloheximide (Actidione ®) to inhibit bacterial growth.
Xerophilic Describes molds which can grow at low water activity (about 0.6)
XL Xylose Lysine
XLD Xylose Lysine plus sodium desoxycholate, sodium thiosulfate, and ferric ammonium citrate
